Abstract:
In “Mapping music and well-being in the Finnish context through music practitioners’ work and educational views”, the authors reflect on the development of innovative music and well-being practices in Finnish contexts during recent decades, and look at educational and institutional collaboration in music and well-being. The article includes examples of interdisciplinary research initiatives shaping the field of music and wellbeing in Finland. It states the case for the continued development of interdisciplinary cooperation and the integration of art-based initiatives, in particular music, within the fields of social care and healthcare, as a means of promoting health and wellbeing.
The article, published in the online magazine Talk, Health and Wellbeing (Turku University of Applied Sciences), was written as an introduction material for an international project negotiation in Toronto in 2019.
