Abstract:
Arts Council England has undertaken an assessment of the current evidence base around the place of arts and culture in health and wellbeing and in the criminal justice system. This report is one of a series of publications informing the conversation about the Arts Council’s next 10-year strategy for 2020 – 30.
The report provides a summary of the evidence, and highlights key themes within the evidence base to inform Arts Council England’s future strategic priorities. The key themes this review explores are:
can arts and culture make a contribution to reducing (re)offending?
the impact of art and culture on health and wellbeing throughout life
the role of art and culture in physical, psychological and social health.
