Abstract:
An Arts Council of Wales study, mapping the range of current Arts and Health activity in Wales to inform a proposed Arts and Health Action Plan by Arts Council Wales and the Welsh NHS Confederation for 2018 – 2021.
The report covers the policy context, types of activity, the key players, practice and funding, followed by findings and proposals.
For all the richness of evidence and some impressive case studies, this is not a comprehensive survey of every project in Wales, but does aim to give a representative flavour of current activity and to begin the framing of shared approaches to greater levels of activity.
Some activity was decided to be outside the scope of this work, e.g. mapping the specific field of Arts Therapy although recognised as an important and well established area of clinical practice.
Volume 2 is an appendix of examples of Arts and Health work in Wales. Collected through the Mapping exercise and field research undertaken during 2017, these appendices provide detailed information and should be read in conjunction with the main report on Arts and Health in Wales. It includes profiles of the seven health boards, examples of social prescribing, work by Local Authorities, training and examples of academic research.
