Abstract:

The conference “Arts – Health – Entrepreneurship?”, organised by Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in 2012, is one of the European Network of Cultural Administration Centres (ENCATC) activities that are intended to professionalize the cultural sector and make it sustainable. The focus of the conference in Helsinki is: to improve arts management aimed at professionals working in mediating positions between artists and the health sector; and to provide an international forum for academics, researchers, cultural operators and policy makers for debating how to turn projects dealing with arts and health into sustainable practices.

This conference report brings together essays and keynote speeches, and includes contributions from: Waterford Healing Arts Trust, Ireland; Arts Care, Northern Ireland; Musique & Santé, France; Kildare County Council Arts Service, Ireland; as well as from a range of academics from Universities in the UK and Finland. The report also includes a section on curricula development.
