Abstract:
The guide’s main focus is on different ways of using pop music as a health education tool. This is mainly with larger audiences or smaller groups of people, rather than individuals. It looks at factors such as lifestyle, political issues and what might help people decide what they want from life.
This guide is useful for health professionals, particularly those working with harder to reach groups, health organisations and anyone interested in participatory arts and health. It is divided into two parts, the first focuses on theory and the second gives 60 hypothetical examples of how existing pop songs might be useful for health purposes.
