Abstract:

Late Opening was commissioned by Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing
organisation and the Baring Foundation. It seeks to summarise the remarkable range of creative ageing projects across Scotland and asks what needs to be done to help this activity continue to thrive.
The reports covers a range of case studies including Dementia friendly initiatives. Its conclusions focus on profile raising; long-term strategic thinking and investment; stronger partnerships between the arts and healthcare sectors; more support for older emerging professional artists; and finally on “creative ageing as an extension of a healthy and fulfilled life’ and therefore a human right.
