Abstract:
Learning About Culture sets out the programme in 2017 for a two-and-a-half year investigation into the role that cultural learning plays in improving educational outcomes for children.
A partnership between the RSA and the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), Learning About Culture is the RSA’s largest ever programme of action research in education. It aims to include 9000 pupils in 400 schools across England in five randomised control trials to find out if different cultural learning approaches can help boost primary pupils’ achievement, confidence and creativity. Wider research will also investigate how arts-rich schools get the most out of arts and cultural activity.
The programme’s two key aims are to build a stronger evidence base for cultural learning and to improve the use of evidence in cultural learning.
