Abstract:
This publication draws on case studies from the joint Baring Foundation/Arts Council Northern Ireland(ACNI) funding programme and illustrates the alleviation of isolation and loneliness in older people through participation in the arts.
This is a summary of the research report, ‘Not So Cut Off’ (Sonrisa Solutions, February 2016) which used case study evidence to demonstrate, anecdotally, the impact of arts participation on alleviating isolation and loneliness amongst older people. The unabridged report, by Una Lynch and Joan Alexander was commissioned by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in partnership with the Baring Foundation and is available on the Arts Council’s website – http://www.artscouncil-ni.org/images/uploads/publications-documents/Not_So_Cut_Off_report.pdf
