Abstract:

A review of the Scottish Arts Council’s Arts and Social Inclusion scheme. The report includes a survey of all Scottish Social Inclusion Partnerships (SIPs); ten arts projects and a general survey of public attitudes to the value of the arts. Where SIPs had developed projects in partnership with artists, they appeared acceptable to participants with ‘little evidence of intrinsic fear or hostility towards the arts’. Participants referred to gaining skills and increased confidence through arts participation.
