Abstract:

Annual Report of the Director of Public Health for Brighton & Hove, which focuses on the contribution arts and culture make to health locally.

The report argues that arts and culture ‘help us get active, get involved and strengthen our communities. Whoever we are, wherever we live and whatever age we are, the arts can help us become more resilient to threats to our health and wellbeing.’ The report is structured around the life course through starting, living, ageing and dying well.’ The report showcases local arts and cultural activities that make a difference to health and wellbeing.

Brighton & Hove has the aspiration to become ‘a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence for the arts and culture in supporting wellbeing and reducing health inequalities.’
