Well-being Residency Network

Publication Type:

This publication examines the potential of Well-being residencies as a collaboration between arts and social and/or health care institutions, including youth centres, orphanages, prisons, hospitals, care homes. Drawing directly from projects and think thanks in Latvia, Russia, Finland and Sweden, it is presented as a guide to help artists, art residency organisers and any third party to prepare for a well-being residency.

Well-being Residency Network started as a two-year project (2018—2020) between five organisations from Latvia, Russia, Finland and Sweden. During the first phase (2018-2019) of the project, four think tanks were organised, one in each country, in order to create individualised toolsets for starting a well-being residency practice. In the second phase, the tool-sets were tested during monitored 1 month residency pilots. The guide includes case studies.
